Poker career

Doyle Brunson was a professional poker player for over 50 years and was the first player to earn $1 million in poker tournaments. He began his career playing in illegal games on Exchange Street in Fort Worth, Texas, with friends Dwayne Hamilton, Amarillo Slim, and Sailor Roberts. A two-time WSOP Main Event champion (1976 and 1977), Brunson was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1988. He authored the influential book *Super/System* in 1978 and its sequel *Super/System 2* in 2004. He was known for his aggressive style and the "Doyle Brunson hand" (10-2), which he used to win both his Main Event titles.

Brunson won 10 WSOP bracelets, tying him for second all-time with Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey (behind Phil Hellmuth). He cashed 37 times at the WSOP and won the Main Event back-to-back in 1976 and 1977.
